What would Szczecin be without one of the most famous monuments of this city – the Renaissance Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes? The company Kowalstwo Przemysław Szymanski has in its arsenal of projects also blacksmithing works at this magnificent Castle.
Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes – the pride of Szczecin
Before its walls were built on the hill, on which the castle building now stands, there were much earlier buildings there, playing a similar role. The Castle, in its present form, began to be built as early as in the fifteenth century, and its history over the next centuries is a complex string of fires, extensions, conversions, and transfers from one owner to another. The Griffins were followed by the Swedish and Prussian rule, and the destruction of the Castle during the 20th World War was remediated by the actions of contemporary conservators and architects.
Our task – truly princely details
We are glad that our company – Kowalstwo Przemysław Szymański – can safely say that it has added the proverbial contribution to the faithful reconstruction of the Castle. Although we did not have any tedious, extensive stone or construction work ahead of us, we were entrusted with the precise execution of external lamps. Who knows which of these works can be considered more difficult? All kinds of metalwork, such as fences, balustrades, or intricate lamp arms, require an incredible amount of work, great patience, and perfect mastery of the blacksmith’s workshop. The photographs best illustrate how far we have fulfilled this task.
